Kamala White, MA, MFT is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
I have been providing counseling and therapy to a wide variety of people since 1993. My clients almost always report to me that they feel better about themselves and their lives due to our work together. I have worked successfully with people from all walks of life- from gang bangers to CEOs. I operate from a fundamental position of respect for you, your background, your values, and your desires.
My work focuses on people's strengths and positive qualities, and even
when working with you on the most serious issues, I can often help you
find the humor and the lighter side of life.
I specialize in helping individuals and couples recover from addictions and trauma, both recent and past. I've helped people recover from alcoholism, drug addiction, process addictions like porn and shopping, and codependence or addiction to another's dysfunction. Addicts create a lot of chaos around themselves and I specialize in helping the addict and the loved ones recover from the tornado of addiction. My work harmonizes with the 12 step approach.
I also have experience assisting people to recover from traumas like domestic violence, rape, war, natural disasters, losses of every kind, dysfunctional families, dysfunctional jobs, and dysfunctional cultures. As bad as those things can be, I deeply believe people can heal from them. I've seen it, and I've facilitated it. You really can feel better!
I experience a lot of joy in helping people recover from addictions and chemical dependency issues. Addictions seem like good coping until they stop working so well- I will help you take a look, in a nonjudgmental and nonshaming way, at any addictions you may be struggling with and help you see how you might change them if you want to. I am invested in helping the family members of addicts and alcoholics learn about their loved one's illness and how best to help the people they love.
In addition, I specialize in helping people find and use their spirituality, whatever it may be. Whether you are scientifically minded or have a faith in a particular deity, I will help you find your spiritual or "highest self" and listen to its wisdom.
I have a lot of experience in gender and orientation issues, and I love working with people of every gender and orientation. I love helping release the internalized self-phobias (internalized sexism, internalized homophobia, etc.) so people can live a more self-loving and self-respecting life.
I don't take a cookie-cutter approach to you. I see you as an individual (or as two individuals in a couple, or as several individuals in a family) and I tailor your counseling to your individual needs.
As a result, a high percentage of my business is from repeat customers and referrals. I am honored to work with the friends and family of people I have already worked with. I maintain the strictest level of confidentiality, so please feel free to call me if you have been referred to me by someone I've worked with in the past. I will never disclose any part of our interaction to them without your specific permission.
If you found this site on the internet and are interested in talking with me, I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation. Please don't hesitate to call. Just so you know what to expect, when you call I will probably ask what's troubling you, I will listen to you, and then I will give you some idea of how I might be able to help you. You can then decide if you'd like to set up an intake appointment with me for individual, group, couples or family counseling.
I would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you the best service in the industry.
